Taste of Little Jamaica Launches This Summer: Two Beloved Caribbean Food Festivals Unite to Revitalize Little Jamaica

Toronto Patty Fest and Taste The Caribbean Return Together for One Massive Cultural Food Celebration on Eglinton West

Little Jamaica is cooking again.

After years of construction, economic hardship, broken promises, and cultural displacement, two of Little Jamaica’s most beloved grassroots festivals are joining forces to bring life, flavour, music, and people back to the neighbourhood with the launch of the very first Taste of Little Jamaica, happening Saturday, July 18 from 12PM to 12AM along Eglinton Avenue West between Oakwood Avenue and Glenholme Avenue.

This new one-day festival marks the long-awaited return of Taste The Caribbean Food Festival, absent for two years, and Toronto Patty Fest, returning after one year away. Both festivals previously operated independently in Little Jamaica for two successful editions each, drawing thousands of attendees to celebrate Caribbean food and culture in the heart of the city.

Now, for the first time ever, the festivals have merged their resources, audiences, and community power to create one large-scale cultural food experience rooted in survival, collaboration, and love for the community.

“This is bigger than a food festival,” say organizers. “This is about economic survival for Little Jamaica. We were told the LRT would save the neighbourhood, but many businesses are still struggling. The reality is people are moving underground and bypassing the community entirely. Little Jamaica has not bounced back.”

Organizers stress that the festival has been built with little to no institutional support and without City funding.

“There is no money waiting for us. No big safety net. These festivals continue because we believe in our community and because we know how important these events are for local businesses, entrepreneurs, and cultural visibility. Alone, neither festival could continue at the scale the community deserves. Together, we stand a fighting chance.”

Taste of Little Jamaica will transform the avenue into a lively celebration of Caribbean culture featuring:

The Toronto Patty Pavilion — celebrating the legendary Caribbean patty with vendors, and creative patty experiences

The Taste The Caribbean Food Village — showcasing authentic and modern Caribbean cuisine from across the diaspora

The Afro-Caribbean Cultural Marketplace — highlighting local artisans, makers, and community entrepreneurs

Live music, DJs, family games, cultural activities, performances, and programming for all ages from afternoon into midnight

The festival is expected to draw thousands from across Toronto and beyond, bringing much-needed foot traffic and economic activity directly into the Little Jamaica corridor.

Organizers are also actively seeking sponsors, partners, and supporters who believe in cultural communities, grassroots economic development, and the preservation of Little Jamaica as one of Toronto’s most important Caribbean cultural districts.

“We are doing this for the love of the culture and the future of the neighbourhood. But culture alone cannot carry the financial burden forever. We need sponsors and supporters who understand that investing in Little Jamaica means investing in Toronto itself.”
