Don Dialogue: In Conversation with Artists Will Kwan, Gareth Long and Beth Stuart

A year after the launch of the Don River Valley Park Art Program, Evergreen presents a conversation with three of the program’s participating artists – Will Kwan, Gareth Long and Beth Stuart. The discussion will delve into the artists’ work, and how they’ve each translated their practices to create new public commissions for the Lower Don River Valley.

Moderated by the Don River Valley Park Art Program’s curator, Kari Cwynar, the conversation will explore new models for public art, and the ways in which temporary public art can reflect the changing cityscape and pose critical questions about land, our use of and engagement with public space, and the histories and narratives of place.

This conversation corresponds with the launch of Will Kwan’s new commission in the Don River Valley Park, a text work entitled A Park For All. Gareth Long will discuss his June 2018 project Travels with Two Donkeys In Valley and Beth Stuart will introduce the research informing a mural project to be launched in the Lower Don Valley in 2019.
