When the world’s tallest building goes up in flames during its inaugural black-tie ball, Fire Chief Steve McQueen and building architect Paul Newman battle to prevent an all-star cast—William Holden, Faye Dunaway, Fred Astaire, Jennifer Jones, Richard Chamberlain, Robert Wagner, and many more—from ending up toast, despite the best efforts of a corrupt, cost-cutting contractor who’s trying to evade responsibility for the disaster.
