"St. Clair West: The Building Blocks of Urban Vitality" - Free Public Talk by Edward Keenan

On Friday, June 20th, Edward Keenan - The Grid’s editor and city hall reporter - will discuss his observations about the recent political history of Toronto as well as his thoughts on the importance of community in areas like St. Clair West within the future of Toronto’s Megacity.

The free talk takes place at the renovated Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie St, Toronto. Doors open 7pm and the talk begins 8pm. A cash bar will be on site.

Keenan’s talk is part of "Urban Transformations: The Past, Present, and Future of St. Clair West," a three-day symposium that focuses on understanding urban life along St. Clair Avenue West, while placing its story in the contexts of Toronto and urban change worldwide.

Two other public events are taking place as part of Urban Transformations:

The Wychwood Barns’ Peter MacKendrick Community Gallery will feature "Timed Exposures: St. Clair West," an exploration of the photographic history of St. Clair West through the last century.

On Sunday June 22nd (10:30am-12:30pm) a guided walking tour of the area’s historic and architecturally significant sites will take place as part of Heritage Toronto’s walk series. The walk starts at the west entrance of the Artscape Wychwood Barns.

The event is sponsored by the Wychwood Barns Community Association, SSHRC, York University and McMaster University.
