Sound Workshop w Ylang Ylang and Hazy Montagne Mystique

Two glittering gems from Montreal bring a performative sound workshop to 8-11's "BRB" gallery space. Ylang Ylang and Hazy Montagne Mystique are the founders of Jeunesse Cosmique, a budding label from Montreal's exploratory landscape.

Ylang Ylang

In recent years, the highly prolific YlangYlang has issued a slew of compelling releases on Lava Church, Personal Archives, and Jeunesse Cosmique. Her latest release, entitled Blossom, is without a doubt her strongest work to date. This standout set will resonate with fans of poignant minimal synth and experimental ambient K7s, as well as fans of current ethereal DIY electronic music, such as Motion Sickness of Time Travel and Aloonaluna.

Hazy Montagne Mystique

Montreal based experimentalist/hierophant Chittakone Baccam is one of the three wyrd coagulations responsible for Jeunesse Cosmique, a growing refuge for psychedelic recorders of all types. Though a cursory perusal of his Bandcamp and web presence may give the impression Baccams output has slowed since last year, he continues to work constantly and his latest will draw widely from a network of like-minded collaborators; examples from his bandcamp feature Ylang Ylang, Hobo Cubes, and Black Givre, and often express a full range of hallucinatory sensory stimulation: colors shift and hazy memories seem to play out in the background, set off further by a scattershot of bubbling voice samples and an inky saxophone backdrop from Hobo Cubes. - Dwight Pavlovic, Decoder
