Shiatsu Workshop
Shiatsu is a popular style of Eastern Bodywork that uses comfortable, lean-on pressure. This course is a mixture of theory and practice, with an emphasis on the practical components. The content of this workshop has been specifically tailored for practitioners with existing bodywork experience who are eager to explore the deeper benefits that Shiatsu training and practice can provide for both themselves and their clients.
This is not a public / general interest course. It is for established health care practitioners (bodyworkers / acupuncturists) who want to learn:
Shiatsu Techniques; rather than 'massage techniques'. Shiatsu means finger pressure. We will work with the effective and practical use of pressure and how to apply it appropriately to the patient's body in a receptive and sensitive way while also not wearing down our own bodies.
Effective Body Mechanics to preserve your own joints. Bodywork can be hard on the practitioner's body. By learning to use your body weight and not your body strength you can preserve your physical vitality. Shiatsu mechanics lend themselves to this in particular.
Effective Energetic Practice to preserve your energy and maintain your boundaries: something which is spoken about a lot but not taught much in a simple and practical manner is how to preserve your energetic body while doing bodywork practice. Shiatsu practice lends itself to this in particular.
The Joy of Bodywork; we do this practice because it is a joy to work with others and help others whilst also earning an income. The stress of having to make money can sometimes detract from this. So can the intensity of the actual practice. This course emphasizes working with simple joy through connection and and aware touch and bringing this awareness into the advanced techniques of Shiatsu.
