Shahla Etemad-zadeh Jamal: Nostalgia Museum [North Gallery]

The works present an exhibition of 40 pieces. The “Nostalgia Museum” is a series vested in a fragment history, capturing the ancient art of a bygone Iran in a new light and within the bounds of a modern home.

Iran’s wealth of cultural artifacts is not easily accessible to the Western eye, nor readily accessible to Shahla’s own countrymen and women. These series explore a juxtaposition of historical fact and modern identity, by way of the contemporary of these artifacts, allows us to redefine our relationship with the past and present, while reconstructing our own individuality in the process.

Through this ongoing project Shahla Jamal intends to share these artifacts, which at the same time is reconstruction of her own personal relationship with the subjects.

There will be short talks. Along with Maestro Opera Singer Hassan Anami, the guitar player Maneli Jamal will be playing a couple of his original pieces.
