**NOTE: Due to distributor restrictions beyond the band and the theatre’s control, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan will not be performing. Neo-Tokyo and the Royal Cinema are about to E X P L O D E.

Widely considered the greatest anime ever made, and largely responsible for the explosion of the genre’s popularity in North America, Katsuhiro Ôtomo’s cyberpunk masterpiece AKIRA remains the gold standard of Japanese animation over 30 years after its release.

The story – set in futuristic 2019 (!) – follows two members of a biker gang, Kaneda and Tetsuo, who accidently crash into a secret military project harnessing the powers of telekinetic, psychic children in post-nuke Neo-Tokyo, and get in way over their heads in an ever-worsening apocalypse.
