Richard Avedon: Darkness and Light - The Great Photographers

The Great Photographers: Become acquainted with some of history's greatest photographers in this screening and discussion series.

What do Pablo Picasso, Frank Llyod Wright, Brigitte Bardot, Georgia O'Keefe, Jacques Cousteau, Andy Warhol and Lena Horne have in common? They were a few of the many personalities caught on film by photographer Richard Avedon. For over 50 years, Avedons portraits filled the pages of the worlds finest magazines. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to see this remarkably candid, eye-opening portrait of the legendary portraitist, who was voted one of the 10 greatest photographers in the world by Popular Photography magazine.

Paul Roth, director of the Ryerson Image Centre, who is the former Executive Director of The Richard Avedon Foundation in New York and organized the major 2008 exhibit, "Richard Avedon: Portraits of Power," in Washington, DC, will be in attendance for a post-screening discussion.

Tickets: $17 Members: $12, $10, Free
