Raw Canvas Staining Workshop with Nathalie Kalbach
Committed to using art education to invigorate and inspire artists across the globe, leading acrylics material supplier Liquitex today announced its brand ambassador Nathalie Kalbach will lead three back-to-back days of acrylic workshops at Bizzy B’s Stamp & Scrap. A self-taught artist, Kalbach is renowned for her use of mixed media to layer texture, depth and dimension to create canvases and art journals that incorporate collage and found objects. Now aiming to help students connect their ideas with their work, Kalbach will offer Toronto’s art enthusiasts “Walk with Me: Altered Book Class” on Friday, March 13; “Acrylics Demystified: Technique & Abstract Canvas Workshop” on Saturday, March 14; and “Raw Canvas Staining Workshop” on Sunday, March 15.
ABOUT RAW CANVAS STAINING WORKSHOP
Most commonly associated with artists such as Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland and Helen Frankenthaler, the fun and exciting technique of painting on unprimed, raw canvas will be explored in this all-day workshop. Students will learn how color-field artists pour, drip and brush thinned paints onto the canvas to create a stained fabric with velvet-like appearance, and how to apply such techniques to stretched canvases, pillow cases, bags, home decor and even clothes!
Raw Canvas Staining Workshop is from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m on Sunday, March 15. Admission is $135 and includes lunch.
