Rant Maggie Rant - Toronto

Canadas award-winning, rabble-rousing, Celtic-FUSION band Rant Maggie Rant celebrates their 6th Annual St. Patrick's Day celebration show at Toronto's prestigious Roots venue, Hugh's Room. A not-to-be-missed show, Rant Maggie Rant likes to mischievously colour outside the traditional lines of Celtic music.

Their last record was actually recorded at the famed venue in 2013 during their 3rd Annual St.. Patrick's Day performance there.

A joyful explosion of sound. Rant Maggie Rant is loved by traditionalists, who enjoy their time-honoured approach and style, while listeners of other musical genres are drawn to the band's fusion of punchy roots/blues/rock guitar and the syncopated World influences of hand drumming spiced with Latin, Middle Eastern and African rhythms.

Based in Stratford, Ontario, Rant Maggie Rant showcases the talents of Lindsay Schindler fiddle, background vocals, Glen Dias lead vocals, recorders, percussion and Barry James Payne guitars, harmonica, bouzouki, vocals. Joining them will be guest musicians Rob Larose percussion, Steve Clark bass, who both hail from London, Ontario, as well as Torontos Daev Clysdale Irish whistle, Irish flute and accordion.

The band recently won International Artist of the Year at the 2015 Australian Celtic Music Awards and received a 2013 Jack Richardson Music Award in the Traditional Folk/Roots category, which recognizes musical excellence in the City of London, Ontario, where all of the members of the band have London connections, and continue to contribute to the vibrant music scene in that city. They have been nominated eight times for Traditional Folk/Roots, World and Celtic Music awards.
