Queer Asynchronies

June 18 – July 25, 2026

Opening Reception: Saturday, June 20, 2–5 pm

United Contemporary, 129 Tecumseth Street, Toronto

United Contemporary is pleased to present Queer Asynchronies, a group exhibition curated by Adrien Sun Hall, opening in June to coincide with Pride Toronto. Bringing together the work of eight 2SLGBTQIA+ contemporary artists, the exhibition explores themes of rebirth, transformation, and queer timescapes.

Curated by Adrien Sun Hall, Queer Asynchronies features the work of Steven Beckly, Camille Charbonneau, Rami George, Dylan Glynn, Jordan King, Natia Lemay, Oluseye, Ry Van Der Hout.

Through painting, photography, sculpture, installation, video and interdisciplinary practices, Queer Asynchronies considers how queer and trans lives unfold in relation to time, through cycles of becoming, acts of self-invention, and alternative temporalities that resist linear narratives. The exhibition reflects on transformation as both a personal and collective process, foregrounding experiences of renewal,

resilience, and futurity.

The participating artists engage with questions of identity, memory, embodiment, and community, offering perspectives that challenge normative understandings of progress, chronology, and belonging.

Together, their works propose queer temporalities as spaces of possibility, where histories are revisited, futures are imagined, and the present becomes a site of continuous reinvention.

Presented during Pride Month, the exhibition celebrates the breadth and vitality of contemporary queer and trans artistic practices while creating space for reflection on the many ways queer communities navigate time, transformation, and becoming.
