QUEEN STREET WEST PRESENTS OUT OF SITE - "THE SECRET" NUIT BLANCHE

On Saturday, September 29th, 2018, the Queen West BIA presents Out of Site, from dusk on Saturday, September 29th ’til dawn Sunday, September 30th.

The Queen West BIA is bringing the ‘secret section’ of Nuit Blanche to life with the classic annual Out of Site addition to the night. The BIA has commissioned artists Codrin Talaba and Jeff Howard, both of whom have an extensive background in public artworks and original works creating one-of-a-kind innovative illuminated creations.

The use of light and photography will captivate audiences and generate a unique artistic experience that is sure to impress. The overarching theme will quite literally shed light on Toronto’s diversity, inclusiveness, and Queen Street West as the epitome of this cultural and social mosaic.

The pièce de resistance will be a photo installation that uses light to scan participants. It will take place at Simcoe Street & Queen Street: close to Nathan Phillips Square. The exhibit will feature the use of projection.

Renowned Canadian contemporary visual artist Viktor Mitic, joins Out Of Site! Viktor has formulated a distinctive and controversial creative process of expressing his art, as he fires live ammunition at images he’s painted of contemporary figures and icons from Justin Bieber to Celine Dion. These bullet riddled images often communicate his unique perspectives on several contemporary issues. Viktor will be bringing to life a sculptural installation with a video imagery. A creation that touches on relationships and human interactions with imaginary events and its digital signatures. Both real and imaginary events are projected at the same time blending the lines between past and present real and fake.

Art enthusiasts and community members alike will also have to be sure to keep their eyes peeled for the other art installation by Queen West Art Crawl, occurring at the Queen West BIA public space(s) (Queen/Denison and Queen/Ryerson). Using projections of natural light phenomena alongside inspiring musical stylings, Toronto is in for a treat with the very best in mystery, art, engagement, and a forward motion that will permeate the community.
