MORE about Eugene Ripper: Ripper is a trailblazing Canadian punk folk rocker and singer-songwriter. From his roots with Canada’s first wave surf punk rockers Stark Naked and the Fleshtones and throughout a solo career featuring a mashup of punk, folk, garage blues, twisted country, rockabilly and rock n roll, Ripper continues to nail it down with his unique musical footprint all wrapped up in DIY punk rock ethos and an acclaimed lyrical songwriting stance.

"Volleying between punk, folk and rock Ripper jumps all over each style, stealing from one and reshaping another until he comes up with a unique sound and vibe all his own." Toronto Star

"Ripper puts spikes back in folk music." Vancouver Province

"Few can turn a couple of chords into something majestic, Ripper has the gift." Ottawa Citizen

MORE about Steve Koch: Mix a spoonful of Mississippi John Hurt in with a cup of Bert Jansch. Beat in a little Lefty Frizzell and Doug Sahm. Add a dash of Johnny Thunders and simmer in the downtown Toronto music for a few decades. Voila! – you’ve got Steve Koch, veteran of the early Toronto punk scene playing guitar in the Viletones and the Demics. After a brief stint in the early 80’s Rockabilly scene fronting his band The One Eye Jacks he teamed up with Handsome Ned Masyk to form the Handsome Neds and turned Queen Street West from a dump into a destination. Through the next years he worked with downtown’s premier heavy rockers Screaming Sam and the Problems as well as joining in with a who’s who of the next generation of artists such as Groovy Religion, Ron Sexsmith, and John Borra. A few years ago Steve returned to his acoustic folk and blues roots, forming He Mistook Her For A Swan with Colleen Hodgson and releasing several albums and singles of sad and beautiful songs under that moniker. If you’re lucky you might get to hear him sing a few songs and conjure some magical instrumentals in a solo show. See less
