Promise Cherry Beach 2018

Promise Cherry Beach
Sunday August 19

... with Box of Kittens and MightyKat (Montreal)

This Sunday is all about Box of Kittens, a local group of friends who’ve made an impression with solid fun underground sounds and parties between Toronto and Berlin. They started with a fantastic vibey warehouse jam over a decade ago and have been purring along ever since.

BoK brings their favourite Montreal dj MightyKat to visit for an early evening set, she’s starring later in the night at Montreal’s Stereo Nightclub. Ahhh, the life of an international dj! And just before MightyKat is Samba Elegua at 530pm, a 20 piece live drum crew.

There are 3 weekends left of Promise Cherry Beach. Each one is different, so remember it only happens once.

On the decks...

MightyKat (Montreal)
Mike Gibbs
Jamie Kidd
Jackie Spade
Shea Marie
Jonathan Coe
Samba Elegua (live drums)

Contribute at the gate...
We ask for $20 from you. Fair and reasonable, and much needed. Thanks.

Contribute in advance...
Cherry Beach can get full. It's no fun to arrive and no space left. Here's the option to guarantee you're in no matter when you arrive.

Thanks for reading. See you Sunday at the beach!

cheers,

To help cover costs, we recommend a suggested contribution of $20 at the gate.

Essentials...

It can get chilly after sunset by the lake, bring a comfy sweater. Bring ID for the bar. Liquids, even if sealed, unfortunately cannot be brought inside. Free water beside the bar.

Music...

Lineups are dreamed up fresh and posted to the event page each week. Check for that.

Location…

Getting to Cherry Beach is easier than you may think. There's lots of free parking, TTC goes directly there, so does the bike path, and calm anchorage for your boat just offshore. Once at the park go east along the bike path or follow the shoreline… you’ll hear the music.

Car - Cherry Beach is at the bottom of Cherry Street, south of Lakeshore Blvd East and Parliament. Free parking in the 4 lots inside the park.

TTC - 121C Bus

Bike - The best way. Follow the Waterfront Trail. Lock your bike to our surrounding fence, outside or inside.

Boat - The best way, too. As you come ashore you’ll be met by our roaming boat greeters. They’ll help get your contribution and wristbands sorted.

Accessibility...

While any beach presents certain challenges, there is firm ground surrounding our dancefloor and onsite accessible washroom. Get in touch beforehand with any specific needs - hi@ilovepromise.com.

Safer Space...

Promise Cherry Beach welcomes everyone. Intolerance or harassment is not ok. All our staff is ready to help and take action. Have each other’s back as a community, we’ve got yours.

Props…

Promise works with Humber College’s Event Management Program. Our student interns Anna, Adrin, Treisha, Jenisha and Kat are integrally involved with each weekend. Watch the next generation go!

Mountains move slowly and with many hands. Thanks for the untold hours of care which brings Promise Cherry Beach to life through the swipes, types and gripes of Brandon, Mitch, Brooklyn, Chris, Andy, Camille and Seb.

Our thanks also to Councillor Paula Fletcher and Mike Tanner and Cameron Kennedy at the Music City Office.

Event graphic art by our friend Jordan St. Claire Snyder.

See you down at the beach!
