Potato Potato Saves the World? at The Toronto Fringe Festival

Sketch Troupe Potato Potato (Audience Choice TO Sketchfest, Winners Sketch to the Death) is proud to announce their new show Potato Potato Saves the World (?) at the Toronto Fringe Festival from June 30th- July 11th at Soulpepper’s Kevin & Roger Garland Cabaret. Potato Potato Saves the World (?) blends musical theatre and sketch comedy to show the best (and worst) of humanity in the face of an alien invasion.

Fresh off a red-hot run at Montreal and Toronto Sketchfests, Potato Potato Saves the World(?) is Potato Potato’s most ambitious show yet: a blend of musical theatre and sketch comedy combining Potato Potato’s hit sketches with new original music. It's a 60-minute narrative tour de force that finds humour in climate change, A.I., Canadian politics, and the millennial/ Gen Z experience, as the group endeavours to defend the Earth from alien invaders in an intergalactic court of law. But, as they review some of their hit sketches about politics and the environment, the group is faced with the question- is humanity worth saving after all?

Created with support from the Sketch Comedy Project Fund, Potato Potato Saves the World(?) takes full advantage of the troupe’s degrees in Musical Theatre and Devising. It’s part sketch revue, part musical theatre, and all Potato Potato, in an examination of the fate of art in a world headed toward AI. This isn't just a sketch show, it's a desperate bid to save humanity. Catch the action in Potato Potato Saves the World(?).
