Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Hans Zimmer has scored each Pirates of the Caribbean adventure for the franchise. The score raised the bar with its sonic complexity and orchestral swashbuckling flavour. Zimmer created the unique sound by having the orchestra play through guitar amps, though no guitars were used in the recording.
