Pelvic Floor 101 For Athletes
PELVIC FLOOR 101 FOR ATHLETES
AN EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR APPROPRIATE FOR MEN, WOMEN, PREGNANT & POSTPARTUM MOMS
The Pelvic Floor muscles are an underestimated yet important function for men and women in daily, functional movements and training.
The pelvic floor is a layer of muscle that supports the pelvic organs (bladder, bowel and uterus) and spans the bottom of the pelvis stretching from the tailbone to the pubic bone. Though highly associated with females and postpartum core, the pelvic floor is just as an important muscle for males especially in lifting and functional training.
Join us on December 1st at Mind-Set Strength & Conditioning with Pelvic Floor specialist Julie Bagshaw from Vital Physiotherapy and Wellness. Julie will be leading a seminar and discussion on increasing strength by learning about your pelvic floor and about possible dysfunctions you may not even be aware of!
In this seminar you will learn:
• Signs of pelvic floor dysfunction & what to do
• Postpartum core re-training
• Should you be doing kegels (Hint: they are not right for everyone!)
• How to leverage and protect the pelvic floor during heavy lifts & double unders
• How to properly stretch/strengthen your pelvic floor
Bring your workout gear as an optional post seminar workout is also available for everyone attending.
Child-minding is also available for parents with children 6 months and over. An additional fee per child will apply.
