Patterns and Puffed Sleeves - Celebrating Costume Design through Anne of Green Gables
Costume designs by award winning designers Martha Mann and Marie Day take centre stage in this brand new exhibition from Toronto Public Library. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lucy Maud Montgomery, we have delved into our Special Collections in the Arts to share a mix of costume designs from four different productions of Maud’s most iconic work – Anne of Green Gables.
Featuring designs from Sullivan Entertainment’s 1985 Anne of Green Gables and 1987’s Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel, a 1994 staging of Anne of Green Gables by Theatre Calgary and The Charlottetown Festival’s Anne of Green Gables: The Musical from 1974.
Visit the exhibit during Toronto Reference Library's operating hours. Please refer to the website for any hour changes. Free guided tours will take place on Tuesdays at 3:00pm during the exhibition run (no tours on December 24 or December 31). No registration required for the tour. Please meet at the entrance of the TD Gallery.
