Opening night of "The Lure" presented by clo!

7:30 PM - strange musical and mermaid pre-show!

8:00 PM - Film starts!

Director Agnieszka Smoczynska does not tread lightly in her incredibly bold debut feature THE LURE. Instead, she bursts out of the gates with a stunning first film - taking elements of camp and glam with vicious horror and then wrapping it in a musical package. THE LURE is guaranteed to be nothing like anyone has ever seen before, standing on its own as a genre-defying, unique piece. A pair of carnivorous mermaid sisters wash ashore in Poland in the 1980's, and quickly find themselves a feature attraction in a local night club, using their siren songs to draw in crowds. This new-age twist on Hans Christian Andersen's original story of THE LITTLE MERMAID is brightly coloured and darkly themed, taking Andersen's storyline and adding extra layers of depth and wickedness.

Come for the monsters, and stay for the catchy music that you'll be humming in your head for at least a week after watching! THE LURE was a unanimous festival favourite during its circuit, and now for a limited time it is at The Royal Cinema!
