Musical Tribute to David Bowie-BOWIE LIVES at Cadillac Lounge in Toronto Dec 31st 2017 New Year's Eve
"MULTI AWARD WINNING VOCALIST Michael Bell is devoted to the sounds of David Bowie! Speaking with multi award winning vocalist on the passing of Iconic 6 time Grammy awarded David Bowie, Michael Bell shares, "I would never have become the person I am today without having discovered "the man who sold the world" so many years ago.
The saddest day for me. RIP David Bowie. I discovered Bowie when I was young teen. Not only did his music floor me (first record for me was Man Who Sold The World) but, here was a guy experimenting with clothes, gender, lifestyle, and standing tall for everyone who liked to "stand out".... musically, he raised the bar for me as a singer... just as Sinatra had done for him.
By my late teens, I was playing in bands and dressing up... I went from Ziggy to the Thin White Duke and back again. As young adult I sang his songs on street corners. I worked for years on a stage musical called "ChangesAllBowie" that I produced telling the musical story of a young teen caught in the allure of the big star.
The song changes has always been a personal anthem and call to action for me.... he inspired me to stand out in so many ways... write and record my music any way I wanted...be smart with my brand and the business and always look successful...... for me, "The Bowie" shaped who I was at a very important time in my life.
It wasn't about the music or being Bowie on stage. He represented something far more profound to me and so many other people... the news of his death has been quite a shock to me...like Lennon was to so many of his generation, David was to me and many of my generation, something very profound, quietly and privately. Elegance to the end. RIP DB
