Music in St. James Park: euphonia

Join us on Thursday, July 2nd, from 7-9pm, for a FREE concert by euphonia, as a part of Old Town Toronto's Music in St. James Park concert series.

Founded in 2013, euphonia is a group of classical, jazz and commercial musicians excited to bring something new and revolutionary into the wider community we live in. We live to play, love music, and recognize that a lot of people are not experiencing the heart pounding, moving, and transformative music we love. euphonia has been born out of a desire to bring incredible music to people who may not have experienced it, live or otherwise, before. We see this not simply as a job or gig, but as a shared experience, a place to express ourselves, and an act of connection between music, musicians and audience.

During a highly acclaimed year-long residency at the Lula Lounge on Dundas West, euphonia offered newly written symphonies, concertos and a host of re-imagined traditional repertoire, along with freshly orchestrated jazz tunes and imaginative pop music renderings. The CBC’s Julie Nesrallah joined the group to present highlights from Bizet’s opera “Carmen” at the Harbourfront Festival in the summer of 2014 and we were a featured ensemble downtown at “Buskerfest”, offering children and grown-ups alike the chance to conduct a real, live orchestra! Our 2015/2016 season offers exciting collaborations with pianist Stewart Goodyear, violinist Lara St. John and the launch of our first CD, featuring the music of euphonia bassist and Composer-in-Residence, Jordan O’Connor.
