Join Small World Music and TD Canada as we celebrate Lunar New Year with 'Music for the Year of the Tiger’!

Three talented young women with roots in China, Korea, and Vietnam weave together musical traditions and modern sounds to create a unique new repertoire for this specially commissioned video concert.

Roa Lee and Amely Zhou are deeply rooted in their instrumental traditions - gayageum, the Korean plucked zither - and erhu, the Chinese spike fiddle. Among Toronto’s finest performers, Roa and Amely are long-standing collaborators who share a desire to take their instruments to new territory.

Anh Phung is a Toronto-based flutist whose wide-ranging performances have seen her solo with L'Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec and perform at Osheaga Festival with electro-pop band Propofol. The Galaxy Rising Star Award-winner will showcase her modern approach to flute and electronics, with looping and found sounds.

The broadcast will culminate in a ‘first-meeting’ between these purveyors of traditional and contemporary music for an exciting new sound that brings the Year of the Tiger to life.

Tune into Small World Music's Facebook page or Youtube channel to watch the performance.
