ARTISTS
Michelle Willis is a singer, songwriter, and keyboard player based in Toronto, over the years sharing the stage and studio with artists such as Stuart Mclean and the Vinyl Caf, Serena Ryder, Hawksley Workman, Nick Buzz, and Nikki Yanofsky to name a few. For the last few years, she's kept a steady schedule as a keyboard player and back up singer for a number of songwriters in the city Lorraine Segato/Parachute Club, Jadea Kelly, Robyn Dellunto, among many others. She is a member of the modern roots band, Three Metre Day. A writer first and foremost, she has now set sights on her solo career. 2014 brought some incredible things, including two tours of her own music through southern Ontario, Montreal, Wakefield, Ottawa, New York City, NY and Boston, MA, plus a successful Kickstarter campaign to make her first full length solo album, "See Us Through". This week she will be stepping into the studio to do just that. You can catch her playing every week at Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse, but first, don't miss her fresh out of the studio at Belljar!
John Jacob Magistery is a post indie/ folk band from Montreal, Quebec who just released their unsigned debut EP "Narcissism Unto Loneliness" spring 2014. The four track EP, which is said to carry hints of Chris Whitley, Jeff Buckley and Arcade Fire to name a few, was recorded live in one day at Montreal renowned Fast Forward Studios in NDG. Following the successful release at Montreal's TURBO HAUS, the band has been receiving encouraging feedback from fans and media including Cult MTL voted #1 podcast station Radio Cannon who described Narcissism Unto Loneliness as "amazing".. "such a great voice".. "really big lush sounds, It's about time this gets some big attention." As well as Montreal's own CHOM 97.7 who has picked up their first single "Greatest Story Ever.." in late September and has been playing it in heavy rotation ever since. They also were recently voted one of CHOM's '2014 Best Music Discoveries'.
