MEZCLAO: Salsa and Movement Exploration
Know the moves. Still dancing the same patterns?
MEZCLAO helps partner dancers break out of rehearsed sequences and practise creating together—in the moment.
Led by Mateo G. Torres, this workshop is for dancers who already have some partner-dance experience and want more room to explore. Use familiar salsa rhythms to explore new movements, switch roles and respond to your partner. We’ll practise listening, making choices and bringing your own flavour to the dance, rather than relying on a fixed sequence.
Rooted in Salsa Caleña and Cuban Casino, MEZCLAO also draws on Contemporary Dance and Contact Improvisation. MEZCLAO means mixed, diverse and eclectic: a way to bring your rhythm and personality into a dance you create together.
