Flávia Nascimento began her career as an actress and singer touring Brazil in musical theatre productions, met a Quebec volunteer travelling with Cirque du Soleil’s Cirque to Monde project, and in 2001 moved to Quebec City, her base ever since for travel throughout Canada for concert performances, block parties, street festivals and benefit shows, while also leading the bands Pé na Rua, Forrossanova and her own Smallest Big Band. Her favourite style, forró, originated in northeastern Brazil, and in influenced by various folk dance styles and beats and enjoys widespread popularity all over Brazil.
