Light, Performance and the Stage: Projection Mapping for Theatre
Build on the foundational skills of projection mapping by designing a functioning theatre set with light! This course will invite actors to collaborate with workshop participants to design an assigned scene, which will feature projection mapping as both a narrative device and set design technique. The class will be divided into groups of two projection mappers and one or two actors. Each group will be given the script for a 5-10 minute scene from familiar classic and contemporary theatre, and will spend the class negotiating, designing, building and finally showcasing their scene for the class and invited guests by projecting the light-set onto plinths, boxes and movable walls on stage. Each of the groups' performances will be filmed, and be played back for the class in the showcase finale for discussion, encouragement, and feedback.
