About the Band

9 Del Barrio is Toronto’s newest compact salsa band, founded in 2024 and already making waves with a big, dancer-driven sound. Blending Puerto Rican and Venezuelan salsa with Dominican merengue and Colombian cumbia, the band delivers relaxed yet high-energy grooves marked by punchy horns and catchy melodies. Led by acclaimed bassist Ruddy Bolanos, a veteran of the Toronto Latin scene since the early 1990s who has worked with major international and local artists, 9 Del Barrio brings together top-tier musicians from across Latin America, making them a powerful presence in Toronto’s salsa scene and an ideal fit for intimate venues and special events.
