About the Band
Born in Barcelona and deeply rooted in Cuban musical traditions, Compota de Manana has built a reputation as one of the most original and exciting acts on the contemporary Latin music scene. Their sound blends the intensity and sophistication of Cuban timba with modern influences, creating high-energy performances that have filled clubs and festival stages across Europe. Since the release of their acclaimed debut album La Alternatimba, the group has appeared at major festivals including Couleur Café and Toros y Salsa, earning praise from international media and sold-out audiences along the way.
Led by bassist and composer Erik Castillo — known internationally for his work with Nathy Peluso — the band returned with the ambitious album Cuestión de Tiempo, featuring collaborations with Cuban icons including Mayito Rivera and Alexander Abreu. Their official showcase at WOMEX 2025 confirmed the group’s growing international profile, followed by a major performance alongside Los Van Van at the Festival Internacional Cubano in Orange. Compota de Manana arrives in Toronto fresh from performances across Europe and Latin America with a live show that is explosive, dance-driven, and impossible to stand still through.
