Join us as we celebrate the opening of Lassonde Art Trail (LAT) West. Drop in for community art-making along the Art Trail, where we’ll explore newly installed sculptures, and share stories about Biidaasige Park and the waterfront. No registration needed. Simply stroll by and join in.

These interactive art experiences are presented in partnership with Waterfront Toronto and are produced by Recreate Place and collaborating Artist Educators Melanie Billark, Amanda McCavour and Raha Medhat, along with a team of Youth Facilitators. Participants of all ages are invited to create, explore and connect through hands-on artmaking!

This is an outdoor program and we recommend dressing appropriately for the weather. Please be aware that the trees in the park system are not yet mature, so there is little shade.

Recreate Place works closely with children and young people to create meaningful change in communities. In collaboration with community partners, they design immersive, hands-on programming that encourages participants to explore, create, and deepen their relationships with the places they live and the spaces they share.

Melanie Billark is a Toronto-based environmental artist, educator, and community-engaged practitioner whose work explores the relationships between people, place and ecological systems.

Amanda McCavour is an artist who works with stitch to create large-scale embroidered installations. She is interested in thread’s assumed vulnerability, its ability to unravel, and its strength when it is sewn together.

Raha Medhat is an arts educator with the YRDSB and her goal is to inspire her community through sustainable artmaking experiences. Raha is passionate about fostering creativity, curiosity, and self-expression, and through her practice, creates welcoming spaces where young people can explore ideas and connect through the arts.
