ABOUT THE CREATORS:

The creators (lee williams boudakian, Kamee Abrahamian) of Dear Armen & Kalik arrive at the stage committed to telling stories that centre the struggles and successes of women, queer and trans folks, Armenians, SWANA folks, and people of colour - exploring the intersections of identity, history, and cultural memory.

PRESS QUOTES ON DEAR ARMEN:

“…there’s a fearlessness to the performance and its examination of the cultural and corporeal aspects of gender as a continuum.”

Aram Kouyoumdjian (winner of Elly Awards for both playwriting “The Farewells” & directing “Three Hotels”)

“A marvellous work of staged performance. Smooth, intense, wise, poetic and above all, non-pretentious - all so elegant and profound. An unforgettable work indeed.”

Anahid Keshishian (UCLA Department of Near Eastern Languages & Cultures)

”…an insightful coming-of-age story that weaves together complex narratives about ethnicity, gender, family, and survival…”

Gillian Edevane (EastBay Express)

ACCESSIBILITY NOTE:

We are committed to creating increasingly accessible interdisciplinary art. This means that we are actively growing in our awarenesses of different access needs. We are looking forward to making changes and modifications to our work and our understandings, so that with each new work we move closer to realizing a greater spectrum of access. For full accessibility details, please visit our event pages and feel free to contact us at unpackingableism @ gmail.com with any questions, feedback and/or suggestions.

This fundraiser is happening alongside the Dear Armen Summer 2016 Tour. Special thanks to the BC Arts Council and the province of British Columbia for supporting this touring initiative.
