INDIGENOUS GROOVES CELEBRATES URBAN INDIGENOUS CREATIVITY

Toronto, ON – Wed, Sept 16, 2026 – The heart thumping celebration of Indigenous artistry is back! The fifth edition of Indigenous Grooves features a lineup of powerful performers from across Turtle Island – all Indigenous, all women and gender-diverse, and all ready to bring the party to Revival on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Since its founding in 2022, Indigenous Grooves has quickly become a key showcase for Indigenous women and gender-diverse artists across genres, and features a mixed program of DJs, electronic music artists, and traditional and modern singers and dancers, as well as a popular arts market featuring Indigenous vendors.

This year’s event will feature performances by a blockbuster line-up, including 2026 Juno nominated singer-songwriter Siibii (Mistissini, Quebec), New York Mohawk hip-hop artist Diogañhdih (Syracuse, New York), Mohawk musician, activist and filmmaker Layla Staats (Six Nations), Snotty Nose Rez Kids’ own DJ Kookum (Vancouver), celebrated local DJ KIMIWVN (Toronto), and more. Hosting the entire night is designer Marta Orellana. Accompanying the music will be a cast of five professional dancers, who will accompany as soloists and also as a full cast. It's a celebration of urban Indigenous culture like no other!

Indigenous Grooves is curated by Miigwech Collective, made up of performing artists Cotee Harper, Rosary Spence and Tamar Ilana, and this year they’ve put together an all-new line-up that embraces the power and diversity of Turtle Island’s Indigenous voices.

The event also features a marketplace filled with Indigenous vendors selling their locally designed and crafted goods, including beadwork, jewellery, art and clothing.

It’s a party, a show, a market, but above all else, a celebration. Indigenous Grooves celebrates the creativity of Indigenous women and gender diverse artists with a night of festivities that pushes the boundaries of tradition and welcomes Indigenous and non-Indigenous revelers alike to celebrate together and dance the night away.
