'I Love Being Black' is a colorful clay illustrated story following 2 sisters as they share the joy of what they love about being Black. This is an empowering and educational book with fun images that teach about culture, diversity and the importance of loving the skin that you're in. Writer and Illustrator Najla Nubyanluv was inspired by the images of her goddaughters Bell and Fayven and her love for children to sculpt a story that brings her vivid imagination to life. This is a book that is guaranteed to make your cheeks spread wide in a supersized smile!
Najla Nubyanluv Biography
Najla Nubyanluv is a playwright, performer and doula who loves belly laughter. Her art mainly focuses on black identity, love and women. Najla is a Mandiela rAiz'n in the Sun graduate and a Transdisciplinary Artist ProgramTAP graduate at The Watah Theatre. She is currently completing her third TAP residency. Since she was a child, Najla has been an avid reader dreaming of writing books and now, 'I Love Being Black' is her living dream.
