Join us for the Toronto premiere of “Huicholes: the Last Peyote Guardians,” an award-winning new documentary chronicling the Wixarika indigenous people’s struggle against the Mexican government and Canadian mining companies to preserve Wirikuta, their most sacred territory and the land where the peyote grows.

The film's director, Hernan Vilchez, as well as father-son marakame shaman team José Luis "Katira" and Enrique Ramirez (community resistance leaders and the film's protagonists) are touring with this film across the Americas and will be presenting our Toronto screening. The night will be opened by the Aztec Dance Group of Toronto.

Tickets are $10 in advance at www.huicholestoronto.brownpapertickets.ca

$12 at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds.

All proceeds will support the tour and Wixarita community.

Hosted by the Mining Injustice Solidarity Network (OPIRG Toronto), Amnesty International, USW Humanity Fund, Cinema Politica, Rebels with a Cause Film Festival, Kairos, LACSN and Council of Canadians.

Alternate screening at York U on Nov. 27th at 7pm hosted by Cinema Politica @ York – https://www.facebook.com/events/904184312944769/.
