Hot Docs FREE event: Through The Lens of a Female Cameraperson

Free tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.

Address gender representation in the documentary industry with acclaimed director and cinematographer Kirsten Johnson. Her most recent film, the self-reflective Cameraperson plays in this years Festival. With an awareness of the unfortunate statistics that still exist, Kirsten Johnson and special guests will present their levers for change to redress the gender imbalance in the field. Playfully and without restriction, the session will confront such notions as documentary as a space for change, quota policies and affirmative action, institutional transparency, unpacking privilege when looking at larger issues of diversity, and hunting in packs—why it's important to build communities.
