Holy Frit

Winner - Audience Award, Best Documentary Feature, Slamdance Film Festival, 2021

In this visceral (and hilarious) three-year race against time, an unknown LA artist named Tim bluffs his way into winning the commission to create the world’s largest stained-glass window of its kind: A 40,000 square foot installation that is to be the centerpiece of a $90 million mega-church in Kansas City.

The problem is, Tim doesn’t know how to make it. After a desperate search, he finds a world-famous glass maestro named Narcissus Quagliata. As the fates of three communities hang in the balance, Narcissus arrives like a storm, and changes everything.

Holy Frit is a comedic, nail-biting underdog story that raises interesting questions about how one defines being an artist, and the connections between art, religion and commerce, and is one of the most surprising docs of the year.

Join director Justin Monroe for a conversation with Sean Williams after the January 21 screening. Sean is the producer of "Below the Line", a podcast exploring the lives and careers of unsung creatives in the film industry.
