In celebration of Hip-Hop History Month, Meeting of the Minds: A Toronto Hip-Hop Town Hall brings artists, educators, students and community members together to celebrate the evolution of Toronto's Hip-Hop scene and build on its momentum — sharing hard-won lessons, tackling shared challenges, and shaping solutions together in a town hall format for the road ahead.

The event takes its name and spirit from the original “Meeting of the Minds” — the legendary gatherings held by Hip-Hop practitioners at the Latin Quarter in New York City during the late 1980s, where figures like Afrika Bambaataa, Chuck D, and Paradise Gray of X-Clan convened to bring unity and peace to the streets, and to channel Hip-Hop’s youthful energy toward solving the pressing concerns of their day. This gathering will explore what challenges are present in Toronto's Hip-Hop community, what strengths can Toronto Hip-Hop build on, and how can the community’s collective energy drive it forward?

Following the moderated conversation, the event will open into a town hall — a true meeting of the minds — inviting members of Toronto's Hip-Hop community to contribute their own perspectives, ideas, and solutions. Designed to foster intergenerational dialogue and collaboration, this event is meant to honour the past, energize the present, and build — together — a stronger, future-proofed Toronto Hip-Hop scene.

Special Guest Panelists include: Jimmy Prime, Haviah Mighty, Jeff 'Spade' Duke, Friday Ricky Dred, Tara Chase, Bobby Martin and DJ Nigel B. Moderated by Dr. Francesca D'Amico Cuthbert.
