Hanlan's Habitat Day 2025

📍 Trail 2, Hanlan’s Point Beach, Toronto Islands

🕘 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

💚 Free to attend. No registration required (except for planting groups – now full).

Get your hands dirty for a good cause at Hanlan’s Habitat Day, a community-powered event combining tree planting, shoreline cleanup, and hands-on science at one of Toronto’s most iconic beaches.

🌳 Pride Tree Planting (10:15 AM – 12:15 PM)

Join the City of Toronto’s Urban Forestry team to help rewild the island by planting native trees and shrubs. Still some spots available for singles, first come, first served.

🧹 North Beach Cleanup (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Take part in a shoreline sweep led by Birds Canada and help keep the lake clean for birds, swimmers, and beachgoers. Bonus: raffle giveaways at 12:00 and 3:00 PM!

🧪 Microplastics Education Station (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM)

Stop by the University of Toronto Trash Team table to learn about how microplastics affect our beaches — and how you can be part of the solution.

Whether you come for the trees, the trash, the science, or the sun, Hanlan’s Habitat Day is a chance to give back to the beach we all love.

Bring your friends. Take the 9:45 AM ferry. Gloves and gear provided.

Hosted by Friends of Hanlan’s, in partnership with Birds Canada, U of T Trash Team, and the City of Toronto.

Reminder: Hanlan's Point Beach is a nude and historically queer space, please be respectful of that when visiting.
