Bridget Milius was a shining light in the Community Worker program at George Brown College. She was a hard worker, valued friend and embraced the challenges of college with passion and intelligence. Above all, she was a single mother who dearly loved her two-year-old daughter Samantha. Bridget faced many personal struggles and obstacles throughout her life. Her decision to come to George Brown represented a major turning point in her life and in her role as a mother. The news that Bridget and Samantha had perished in a fire in February 2011 profoundly impacted our school community. We, the community workers of George Brown, wish to honour Bridget's memory though this tribute fund. Like Bridget, many of our peers in the Community Worker program are single moms, who struggle to balance school work, family life and work placements. It is our goal to raise $10,000 to finance a bursary for single mothers enrolled in the Community Worker program. We are asking you to join us in making a contribution to this tribute to Bridget and Samantha. It is one concrete way of ensuring that GBC students continue to benefit from her courage and her example for years to come. All donations are welcome.
