Free Movie Night before the World Cup - Eye Contact
Join us for a special screening of the documentary Eye Contact before the FIFA World Cup 2026™!
Once every four years, the international Deaf Olympics, or Deaflympics, are held for athletes who are Deaf or hard of hearing. This documentary follows Japan’s first Deaf women’s soccer team to compete in the Games, and was screened at the 2010 Taiwan International Documentary Festival and Russia’s International Disability Film Festival, “Breaking Down Barriers.” Japan’s Deaf women’s soccer team qualified to participate in the 2009 Summer Deaflympics held in Taipei. Hailing from different professions and age brackets, the women band together in preparation for the match. Making a name for themselves, however, is no easy task. Learning from their experiences, they move forward with a positive attitude.
