THREE STORIES OF LOVE

恋人たち

JAPAN 2015 140 min. Japanese with Subtitles in English [Drama]

Directed by: RYOSUKE HASHIGUCHI

Starring: Atsushi Shinohara, Tōko Narushima, Ryō Ikeda, Tamae Andō, Lily Franky, Ken Mitsuishi

Director Ryosuke Hashiguchi returns with his first feature-length drama in seven years since All Around Us. Its three leads are relative unknowns chosen in auditions by Hashiguchi, who wrote their roles specially for them. The end product is a detailed depiction of the emotions of people dealing with the tribulations of life.

Atsushi lost his wife to a random killer on the street. Toko lives with her disinterested husband and uncongenial mother-in-law. Shinomiya is an elite lawyer and gay man. As change comes to their existences, they gradually become aware of the preciousness within everyday life.
