Food Truck'N Friday
Toronto's top food trucks have taken over Etobicoke for Food Truck'N Friday, a bi-weekly culinary extravaganza that has quickly become this summer's hottest - and tastiest - event. Featuring a diverse lineup of both new and veteran food trucks, Food Truck'N Friday will once again be making mouths water with its third instalment this Friday, August 7.
"It's amazing to see how we've been so well received, by both the food truck community and local residents," says Jason Bellissimo, Director of Sales & Marketing of J. B. Innovative Solutions Inc., and founder of Food Truck'N Friday. "In just one short month, we've grown from a small, suburban event to a major curbside attraction."
Since its inaugural event on July 10, which featured just seven food trucks, Food Truck'N Friday has grown exponentially to now include live music and corporate sponsors. This Friday, 11 food trucks and carts will make their way to the event's resident parking lot at the corner of Bloor St. W. and Resurrection Road (just west of Islington subway station), bringing with them a smorgasbord of food that's as diverse as the community itself. The evening's menu includes everything from gourmet Somali and Korean fusion to Argentine empanadas, Italian gelato and Hawaiian shaved ice.
"Etobicoke is such a culturally diverse city so we really wanted this diversity reflected in the food," says Bellissimo. "For those of us who haven't been able to get away this summer, this is the next best thing - you can eat your way around the world without ever leaving the GTA!"
To cap off the event, resident DJ Johnny Batts will be spinning beats all evening. Plus, community partners like Islington Chrysler and Resurrection Credit Union will also be present.
"We first envisioned Food Truck'N Friday as a community event, one that's unique to the city of Etobicoke," adds Bellissimo. "This is why it was important for us to reach out to local businesses, not only to build relationships within the neighbourhood but also to help elevate Food Truck'N Friday to a premier event. After all, there's nothing like good food to bring a community together."
Food Truck'N Friday runs from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. this Friday, August 7 in the vacant parking lot at Bloor St. W. and Resurrection Road. Participating food trucks include: Caribbean Authentic Food Truck, La Novela, Che, Rome'n Chariot, Vesta Lunch on Wheels, Localista, Road Grill, Kal & Mooy, Sugar Mamma's Mini Donuts, Sweet Snow Shave Ice, and Bar Ape.
