Focus Social - Practicing Active Presence @ Bampot House
For three hours, come join in and focus on where you are, amongst like-minded people. The imperfect, interesting humans in it.
See what happens. The event is free to register for, but any contributions help grow and organize future events.
Standard Ticket:
$12 goes directly to Bampot, which includes a pot of tea or coffee and a bowl of soup under their anti-café model.
$8 goes to host Quiet Smile and will be reinvested into creating more events, gatherings, and volunteer-based experiences across the city.
No scrolling. No small blue glow in your palm. No quick disappearance disguised as “just checking something.”
This evening is an experiment in staying.
Join us at Bampot for a phone-free social devoted to presence, real conversation, and that mildly uncomfortable thrill of speaking to someone you do not yet know. We will practice being ourselves, which sounds simple until you try it without a screen nearby.
Bampot, with its tea, board games, and generous corners, is a good place for this. Come with a friend if you like. Or come alone and discover that most others are slightly nervous as well. That is part of it.
Phones will be put away. If you feel the reflex to reach for yours, notice it. It is surprisingly strong. If a fact cannot be remembered, let it remain unremembered. Conversation survived centuries without Google.
There will be gentle prompts. Optional games. Space to listen properly, not just wait for your turn to speak.
For three hours, focus on the room. The imperfect, interesting humans in it.
