Flowers for You: Face of Islam

Opening Reception: Saturday, May 14, 12-2 pm

Flowers for You: Face of Islam, an exhibition of photography by The Invisible Majority – a project of artist Zahra Siddiqui – at the ArtworxTO Hub North at Downsview Park.

Flowers for You: Face of Islam explores diversity within the GTA Muslim community and honours the beauty and individuality of those represented. The inspiration for the series was an incident of violence against a Muslim family in London, Ontario which came as a reminder that the Muslim community needs to feel uplifted and loved, seen and valued. “This series is meant to challenge people’s ideas and help them channel energy from their heart, to act from a place of shared humanity and respect,” says Siddiqui.

Face of Islam is part of the ongoing community portraiture series, Flowers for You by The Invisible Majority – a celebration of diverse communities that gives people their flowers to remind them of their worth with a simple gesture.

Flowers for You: Face of Islam is part of ArtworxTO: Toronto's Year of Public Art, 2021–2022 a year-long celebration of Toronto’s exceptional public art collection and the creative community behind it.
