Festival of South Asia Walking Tour
Dive into the Gerrard India Bazaar during the 23rd TD Festival of South Asia and discover the hidden histories of Toronto's Little India. An exclusive presentation for the festival, learn about the origins and businesses that give life to this South Asian cultural hotstpot, and the special offerings they provide only at the festival.
This tour will be led by Emerging Historian Sarah Takhar. Sarah Takhar (she/her) holds an undergraduate degree in Archaeology from the University of Edinburgh and a master’s degree in Museum and Gallery Studies from the University of St Andrews. Sarah is an experienced international researcher and museum educator who has previously worked with organisations such as the Museum on the Mound, the Scottish Maritime Museum, and the Aurora Historical Society. Sarah is passionate about investigating heritage through a transnational lens, and exploring the cross-cultural connections of history.

Our staff and volunteers will be at the tour's starting location 30 minutes prior to each tour. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the tour to allow time for check in. Feel free to call us at (647) 542-3450 if you are having trouble finding the start location.

Distance and Terrain: This tour is approximately 1 kilometer in distance and takes place predominantly on paved city sidewalks and streets.
