Fall Beach Studio Tour

Launched in 1994 by two enterprising artists, the Beach Studio Tour has welcomed guests for over two decades into the studios and homes of talented people who express their passion through a variety of media. This spring, over 24 artists in 15 locations will share their work and techniques, fostering a deeper appreciation of their chosen medium, as they convey their particular vision through paint, clay, metal, fabric, wicker, wood, or the camera lens.

Meeting its maker and learning about the careful craftsmanship behind it always personalizes art for the viewer. A gallery can showcase beautiful artwork, but seeing an artist’s space and chatting about their ventures adds a richer dimension to the experience.

The artists on this self-guided tour recognize the sense of human connectivity that is shared through the power of art. It is the reason they participate in this artist-run collective, which allows them the chance to explain their ideas and methods to enthusiastic visitors.

They are busy throughout the year, conceptualizing and creating new pieces, preparing for exhibits, researching techniques, teaching classes, and completing custom orders. Some of them travel to exotic locations to gain inspiration or to capture special subjects, and all of them take pride in presenting their latest work to the tour guests.

Come and explore the thriving arts community in Toronto’s picturesque Beach area on Oct 19 to 21. Pick up a brochure from the neighbourhood’s shops and cafés or download it at www.beachstudiotour.ca. Yellow signs and balloons flag the 15 locations, so take a creative journey by foot, bicycle, or car to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the vibrant artistic spirit in the Beach.
