Esprit Orchestra Presents: the world's turning
Esprit's concert on January 29th includes two premieres - one by Samuel Andreyev and another by Philip Cashian.
Program:
the world's turning - Philip Cashian
The Flash of the Instant - Samuel Andreyev
Berceuse - Robert Aitken
Over Light Earth - Daniel Bjarnason
Alex Pauk, conductor
Robert Aitken, flute
Aitken's work reflects the balance of Yin and Yang in a commemoration of family members, friends, and associates "who sleep before us". Cashian exlores momentum, stasis, mechanisms and patterns inspired by new sculptures of Stephen Vince, while Andreyev's transcendent sonic poetry moves in prismatic micro-variations. Bjarnason draws inspiration from and pays tribute to New York School painters Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock.
