Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company presents the World Premiere of Epocas

Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company, voted Toronto’s Best Dance Company of 2015 by NOW Magazine readers, presents the world premiere of Épocas at Harbourfront Centre’s Fleck Dance Theatre as part of NextSteps from April 22-April 24, 2016.

Épocas, or ‘Eras’ in English, journeys through time to pay tribute to many of the iconic figures who helped shape and influence the music and dance of Spain that we know and love today.

Épocas honours the tremendous influence of great artists from significant eras that brought Spanish culture to the world and features live music, song and dance. The program is influenced by La Argentinita’s neoclassical Spanish dance of the 1930’s, the immensely popular José Greco and his flamenco company in the 1960s and the 1970’s flamenco revival known best for the celebrated and enduring flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía and iconic flamenco singer Camarón.

This year, the award-winning Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company welcomes two artists from Spain to perform alongside the dynamic company of dancers and musicians: talented dancer/choreographer Rafael del Pino making his debut with the company and exhilarating singer Manuel Soto who returns to work once more with the ensemble.
