End Period Poverty: A Screening and Insightful Discussion FREE

The Toronto District A711 Lions and Toronto Beaches Lions Club are offering a FREE screening of Netflix's "Period. End of Sentence." Join us for the documentary short followed by a panel of community guest speakers discussing how poverty and access to feminine products is a little-talked about social issue that affects women and girls in our own community today.

"The documentary short follows a group of local women in Hapur, India, as they learn how to operate a machine that makes low-cost, biodegradable sanitary pads, which they sell to other women at affordable prices. This not only helps to improve feminine hygiene by providing access to basic products [5] but also supports and empowers the women to shed the taboos in India surrounding menstruation – all while contributing to the economic future of their community."

***We will have a “Donation Station” and would appreciate a contribution of Menstrual Products to play a part in helping end Period Poverty. This will be welcome assistance to shelters or drop in centres participating in the panel.***
