Echoes of the Avant-Garde

Come see "Echoes of the Avant-Garde", the November group art exhibition by members of the Heliconian Club, inspired by the vibrant, unorthodox and sometimes scandalous arts scene of 1920s and ‘30s Paris. This visual art exhibition is connected to two other events in the historic Heliconian hall in November:

The Music Section's concert "La Musique des Années Folles" featuring works by various composers active in Paris at that time (November 15 at 2:30 pm); and a screening of Jean Cocteau's surrealist film The Blood of a Poet with improvised, live musical accompaniment on Friday November 21 (7:30 pm). The later event "In the Key of Cocteau" is a collaboration between the Toronto Silent Film Festival and North Wind Concerts with musical accompaniment to the film created by Ben Grossman, Alison Melville, Colin Savage and Deb Sinha.
